Scott Virkler Named Vice President, Web Search Strategy & Business Development of Elsevier

We are proud to announce the placement of Scott Virkler to Vice President, Web Search Strategy & Business Development of Elsevier. Elsevier announced the appointment of Scott Virkler to Vice President, Web Search Strategy & Business Development Elsevier, Inc. Mr. Virkler brings strategic understanding of Web search and Internet business models as the lead business development executive for a top vertical search engine, and has strong business process and management training that he gained from General Electric and in the United States Air Force. Mr. Virkler left the Air Force in 1993 at age 28 and was recruited to General Electric as part of their Junior Officer’s Program through which they identify talented officers for management careers. He worked at General Electric from 1994 until 2000. At that point he joined GlobalSpec, the leading specialized vertical search, information services and e-publishing company serving the engineering, manufacturing and related scientific and technical market segments. Mr. Virkler is still an active member of the United States Air Force as an Officer (Lt. Colonel) and Air Guard.
