Pat Mastandrea is one of the founding partners of the Cheyenne Group and is the Chief Executive Officer of the company. Prior to joining the firm, Pat ran TMP/Monster Worldwide’s Global Media and Entertainment Executive Search Practice.
Pat has more than twenty years of senior executive experience in media, entertainment and communications as a general manager, sales and marketing executive, publisher, media analyst and consultant. Before her career in search, Pat was a Vice Chairman at Whittle Communications where she re-launched a new media division called Special Report. She served as Chief Operating Officer for the launch of Rupert Murdoch’s Sky Television in Europe and was part of the original senior management team that launched Fox Broadcasting Company as the fourth network. Pat spent a number of years in the publishing industry as a Publisher and Group Publisher. She began her career in the agency business at Ketchum Advertising. Pat was recruited, from the agency business, to join Capital Cities/ABC in sales for ABC Sports and Good Morning America.
Pat’s career spans 20 years in the media and entertainment industry including advertising agency, broadcasting, cable, direct broadcast satellite, publishing and new media. She has been responsible for the strategic business development and senior management recruitment for some of the most successful new media launches in the past decade, and is a spokesperson for her industry.
Clients range from new ventures to the largest global corporations. Assignments are typically situations where strong innovative leadership is essential due to rapid changes with the client company or its industry. Specific assignments range across all functional areas including general management, marketing, sales, business development, finance and programming. Positions include chief executive officers, chief operating officers, chief financial officers, division presidents, vice presidents of sales, marketing, business development and senior programming executives. Pat also handles board assignments.
Bill Cella is former chairman and CEO of MAGNA Global Worldwide and vice chairman of Draftfcb.
Most recently, Bill was instrumental in helping launch the Pac-12 Networks, a first ever seven network sports start up. Prior to the launch on August 15th, 2012, his team generated approximately 12 million dollars in revenue, the most ever for any network start up in history. The Cella Group that Bill formed in 2008 was a media sales representation company offering sales expertise in both traditional and digital, consultations in media, as well as sports and entertainment representation.
Bill also spearheaded MAGNA Global, a unique media negotiation, research and programming unit of the Interpublic Group of Companies. Bill worked with Interpublic’s media specialists, including Initiative, Universal McCann, and other Interpublic media agencies around the world.
Before his six year tenure leading MAGNA Global, Bill held the position of executive vice president, director of broadcast and programming for Universal McCann North America, where he was responsible for over $2 billion dollars of national broadcast time on network, cable and syndicated television.
Before joining McCann, Bill worked for ABC for 15 years culminating in the position of vice president of sports sales.
Bill has the distinction of being recognized as a “Media Maven” by Advertising Age, in both 1999 and 2001, and was listed 7th in the Electronic Media (now TelevisionWeek) ranking of The Most Powerful People in Television. In 2007 Bill was inducted into the Broadcasting and Cable Hall of Fame and in 2008 Bill became a board member of Crown Media Holdings, Inc. and is on their finance and nominating committees. He is also on the Board of TiVo and is a member of their compensation committee. He appeared numerous times on CNBC and Bloomberg as an industry expert on trends in the media business.
Gabriella Colantoni, a Partner in The Cheyenne Group Los Angeles office, has 15 years of executive search experience and is recognized as a talent strategist operating at the intersection of media, entertainment and technology. She has placed key executives in industries such as cable, new media, film studios, video games and consumer technology across multiple functional disciplines, including CEO, COO, finance, sales and marketing.
Previously, Gabriella was the Managing Director of DHR International’s Media and Entertainment Practice as well as its Los Angeles office. Earlier in her career, Gabriella was a Principal at Korn/Ferry International in Los Angeles where she conducted numerous senior-level search assignments in all segments of media, entertainment consumer products and technology.
Prior to beginning her career in executive recruiting, she held a variety of marketing positions both domestically and internationally. She also served as Vice President of Global Campus Recruiting for Credit Suisse First Boston in New York.
Gabriella holds a BS in Political Science from the University of California at San Diego.
Christine’s practice is focused on the recruitment of senior level executives at the convergence of media and technology.
She joins the Cheyenne Group as Partner with over seventeen years of retained executive search experience spanning the full organizational spectrum for industry leaders such as Apple Computer, Microsoft, Intel and Juniper Networks as well as the portfolio companies of top-tier venture capital firms.
Although Christine has conducted assignments at the national level, she has specific geographical expertise of the San Francisco Bay Area with deep knowledge of its technology and new media industry landscape. She leads the Cheyenne Group’s San Francisco office and focuses mainly on searches for Technology Communications and Media clients.
Christine began her search career with TASA International/TMP Executive Search in the Information Technology Practice Group where she became a Partner in 1998. Following, she ran a successful search firm servicing venture-backed companies primarily in web services and e-commerce. Christine was also a member of Apple Computer’s internal executive recruiting team where she managed searches in marketing and operations. Most recently she was a Partner with David Powell, Inc. a boutique executive search firm based in the San Francisco Bay Area where she conducted VP and C-level searches, including dozens of CFO searches, for both public and private technology clients.
In addition to leading the San Francisco office of the Cheyenne Group, Christine is a Mentor at StartX (formerly SSE Labs), the Stanford Student Startup Accelerator.
She holds a B.A. in Economics from Stanford University and is originally from Boston.
Franca Virgili is an accomplished search consultant who has worked within the Executive Search community for over 20 years. She began her career in executive recruitment in Italy, her native country, where she worked for almost a decade with one of the main local executive search firms, I.C. Interconsult. There she progressed from a researcher role to the position of partner, working primarily with American multi-national corporations and solving their executive recruitment needs throughout the main European countries. This enabled Franca to gain a strong international dimension, developing a special expertise in the execution of “cross-country” search assignments.
In 1994, Franca permanently moved to the United States, opening the Los Angeles office of one of the major executive search firms in the country, TASA Worldwide/Johnson Smith & Knisely. Since then, she has specialized in the Traditional and New Media, Entertainment, Information and Communications industries, working with a broad client base which includes large scale multi-national companies as well as start-ups and portfolio businesses of venture capital and private equity firms. In 1999, Franca was one of the founding partners of The Cheyenne Group. Based in Los Angeles, she concentrates on assignments and working with clients on the West Coast.
Franca holds a Masters Degree in American Literature from the University of Rome and speaks English, Italian and Spanish fluently.
Anne is a Senior Associate with The Cheyenne Group and works closely with the Partners and Clients on primarily U.S. based assignments. Anne has deep knowledge and focus within B2B/Business Information, Digital/Online Media, Publishing & Education industries and works across all functions.
Anne is one of the founding members of The Cheyenne Group. She began her search career in 1997 as a Research Associate with TASA Worldwide/Johnson Smith & Knisely’s Media and Entertainment sector. Prior to search, Anne gained her industry knowledge at Meredith Corporation as a Marketing Specialist, implementing marketing and promotional programs for the Custom Marketing Group. Before Meredith, Anne worked for Discovery Zone as a Marketing Assistant, coordinating national and regional promotions for the Midwest territory. Anne began her career on the agency side as an Account Executive with a small retail based San Francisco advertising agency.
Anne received her B.A. in Advertising from University of Minnesota.
