Herb Scannell is the successful candidate. A highly accomplished and seasoned executive, Scannell served as President of Nickelodeon Networks and Vice Chairman of MTV Networks, and was most recently CEO of Next New Networks, a digital media company he co-founded in 2006.
In his new role, Scannell is responsible for growing the BBC brand and the business across all divisions in the U.S., the BBC’s largest market outside the UK. He sits on the BBC Worldwide Executive Board. His responsibilities in the U.S. include flagship cable channel BBC AMERICA and BBC AMERICA HD, BBC Worldwide Productions, BBC.com, Sales and Distribution including Digital Syndication and Motion Gallery, Home Entertainment including Audiobooks, and Licensed Consumer Products. He also oversees the exploitation of BBC Worldwide’s Global Brands in America.
Prior to founding Next New Networks, Scannell spent much of his career at Viacom. As Vice Chairman of MTV Networks and President of Nickelodeon Networks he oversaw all creative and business operations for a portfolio of brands including Nickelodeon, the #1 rated network in cable TV for 10 years running, TV Land, the cable home of classic TV and Spike TV, America’s first network for men. In addition he was responsible for a suite of digital networks including pre-school channel Noggin, as well as online offerings, a successful feature film division and Viacom’s Consumer Products division, which grew into the third largest licensing business in the world under his watch.
Scannell began his career at MTV Networks as Director of Programming, Nickelodeon in 1988 and quickly moved up the ranks becoming President of Nickelodeon in 1996. Prior to joining Nickelodeon and MTV Networks, he held various marketing and promotional positions in pay TV at The Movie Channel and Showtime.

Ms. Townsend joined Crain’s New York Business in 1989 as publisher and was named a vice president of the company in 1993. She has also received numerous awards for her leadership and commitment to business, arts and culture in New York City, including the first Lincoln Center Business Leadership Award in 2004.
Before joining Crain Communications, Ms. Townsend served as New York City’s Deputy Mayor for Finance and Economic Development from Feb 1985 to January 1989 and before that as the City’s budget director.

From 1994 to 2000 he worked his way up from an entry-level business position to a supervisory role, directing workflow, counseling, developing, and hiring the staff of four revenue analysts. Philip took a brief hiatus from ESPN in 2000 working as an Account Executive at Outpost.com, and as a Manager of Client Account at Microcast, Inc. Then in 2001 Philip rejoined ESPN, taking on roles with increasing responsibilities beginning with Associate Director, Business Analyst, to his final role as Vice President, Sales Operations. Harris was recently appointed as President & CEO of this leading targeted media company which is part of Primedia Inc. Channel One Network broadcasts its programming to 12,000 American Middle, Junior and High schools, in more than 350,000 classrooms throughout the U.S. Judy will succeed James Ritts who has successfully been at the helm of the network for several years and has recently announced his intention to step down in order to dedicate himself full-time to his personal interests. Besides continuing in Jim Ritts’ footsteps and maintaining Channel One Network’s leading position in its market, Judy will be responsible for maximizing revenues by creating new business strategies required to expand the company and diversify its business model. Judy joins Channel One from PBS, where she held the position of Executive Vice President, Business Development. In this role, for the last four years, she focused on aggressive content development activities, particularly for the educational market, as well as on creative deal making that brought significant new sponsorship revenues to the company. Judy’s career includes a two-year tenure at Discovery Communications as the General Manager of their Consumer & Educational Products, as well as 16 years with Brinney & Smith, a $700 million business owned by Crayola Corporation. During her time at Crayola, she rose through the ranks from Product Manager to Vice President and became the first female Corporate Officer in the company’s history.

ZelnickMedia owns interests in an array of media and direct marketing enterprises. Mr Zelnick has an MBA and law degree from Harvard University.

Matthew is an accomplished financial executive with over 10 years of experience in the film industry. After a successful early career in investment banking, he joined Twentieth Century Fox in 1996 where he held various roles culminating in the position of SVP, Motion Pictures Finance and Business Development. In 2001, he joined Bill Mechanic, former Chairman of Twentieth Century Fox Filmed Entertainment, as the CFO of Pandemonium -- a start-up independent film production company. For the last two years, Matthew has worked as a consultant providing services such as capital-raising, industry analysis and strategic planning to a number of clients including major motion picture and independent film production companies.
