Before that, Jill was CEO of The Botway Group, Ltd., the largest independent firm in the U.S. specializing in the purchase of national media. Herb Scannell is the successful candidate. A highly accomplished and seasoned executive, Scannell served as President of Nickelodeon Networks and Vice Chairman of MTV Networks, and was most recently CEO of Next New Networks, a digital media company he co-founded in 2006.
In his new role, Scannell is responsible for growing the BBC brand and the business across all divisions in the U.S., the BBC’s largest market outside the UK. He sits on the BBC Worldwide Executive Board. His responsibilities in the U.S. include flagship cable channel BBC AMERICA and BBC AMERICA HD, BBC Worldwide Productions, BBC.com, Sales and Distribution including Digital Syndication and Motion Gallery, Home Entertainment including Audiobooks, and Licensed Consumer Products. He also oversees the exploitation of BBC Worldwide’s Global Brands in America.
Prior to founding Next New Networks, Scannell spent much of his career at Viacom. As Vice Chairman of MTV Networks and President of Nickelodeon Networks he oversaw all creative and business operations for a portfolio of brands including Nickelodeon, the #1 rated network in cable TV for 10 years running, TV Land, the cable home of classic TV and Spike TV, America’s first network for men. In addition he was responsible for a suite of digital networks including pre-school channel Noggin, as well as online offerings, a successful feature film division and Viacom’s Consumer Products division, which grew into the third largest licensing business in the world under his watch.
Scannell began his career at MTV Networks as Director of Programming, Nickelodeon in 1988 and quickly moved up the ranks becoming President of Nickelodeon in 1996. Prior to joining Nickelodeon and MTV Networks, he held various marketing and promotional positions in pay TV at The Movie Channel and Showtime.

Nawin's extensive publishing career combines experience in corporate, academic, and association environments and responsibility for operations, sales, marketing, circulation, custom publishing, manufacturing, distribution, fulfillment and customer support services. He holds a Ph.D. in Mass Communications from the University of Iowa (1977) and worked for three years as Managing Editor at the University of Iowa Department of Publications. He subsequently held positions at the American Bar Association and at First Impression Printers and Lithographers. In the late 1980s, Nawin joined the American Medical Association in Chicago where he served as Director, Publishing Operations Division, from 1991 to 1995. He worked at Reed Elsevier Companies for six years as Vice President, Reed Travel Group, and as Senior Vice President, OAG Worldwide. In 2002, Nawin returned to the American Medical Association where he has been responsible for the Periodical Publishing business, which includes the highly respected Journal of the American Medical Association and the nine Archives journals, all of which are peer reviewed, and the weekly American Medical News. Over the past three years, Nawin's group developed new products and services, expanded online and international publishing activities, and led a turnaround resulting in increased revenues and margins. Nawin serves on the executive committee of the Professional and Scholarly Publishing Division of the Association of American Publishers and on the executive board of the International Association of STM Publishers. He looks forward to returning to Hyde Park and to leading the Journals Division at a time of great challenge and opportunity for technically sophisticated nonprofit publishers.

Reed Elsevier today announced the appointment of Lisa A. Ms Hook, aged 48, has over 20 years of management experience in media, entertainment and information businesses. Until December 2004, she was President of AOL Broadband, Premium and Developer Services. Prior to joining AOL she was a partner at Brera Capital, a New York based leveraged buyout fund and at Alpine Capital, a private equity fund focused on media and telecom investments. Previously she was a Vice President at Time Warner Inc. where she managed corporate transactions, mergers and acquisitions, and before that was Executive Vice President/Chief Operating Officer at Time Warner Telecom. She started her career at the US law firm of Hogan & Hartson, having graduated at Duke University and the Dickinson School of Law.
Ms Hook is a director of Covad Communications Inc. and K12 Inc., and is a member of the Board of Trustees of the National Public Radio Foundation.

Rich also served as the President of ETS Technologies, Inc., and led this for-profit ETS subsidiary in successful efforts to commercialize ETS online learning and assessment technologies.
